Fortnightly update 17: 20.07.2020 to 02.08.2020

In this blog series, I share my fortnight-to-fortnight triumphs (and failures) as a writer. Despite all the ups and downs, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Murderhobos Must Die

So I went and made another thing, and it’s already drafted and awaiting feedback and illustrations. It’s another tabletop RPG adventure, this time under the Open Gaming License and using the Systems Reference Document, and it’s called Murderhobos Must Die. That’s about as much as I can reveal right now. Also, “murderhobos” is a tabletop RPG term; take no offence.

The Front

I write scripts for the popular World War II YouTube channel The Front. We uploaded two videos this fortnight, as usual. The first was about Filipino guerrillas in World War II.

The second was about the most effective soldiers of the Second World War. It was a pain in the ASS to write, but I think I did all right, all things considered.

#vss365

I write 250-character “stories” using the #vss365 word prompts on Twitter under my own name. Got pretty weird this fortnight, but I’m happy with the first and last pieces.

#dinosaur

The dinosaur shaman dreamt of the pink bipeds that would one day be. He saw them bend metal, break the sky, and burn the nest of the Eggmaker, and he wept. Then upon the Forest he called down a rock from the stars and rued in his last moment that he didn’t call three.

#galaxy

He lifted out his spoon and watched the galaxy stop spiralling and come undone. When it was cold and still, he stuck his spoon back in and stirred the other way, giggling as the tiny parodies of himself walked backwards on their streets and grew from big to small.

#nostalgia

Waltz in blue dustfall
Echoing songs of lost souls
Hot blood nostalgia

#iridescent

I watched my bent reflection in the iridescent skin of a bubble and wondered if God or the thing that made him watches our world in much the same way, following it with the sharp tip of their finger and just waiting to get bored.

Conclusion

I never thought I’d be drafting Murderhobos Must Die this fortnight, but I’ll take the win. Expect to hear more about this soon, and keep an ear out for some of the other stuff I’ve got going too. We’re talking big updates with The Front and Geetsly’s, tabletop RPG editing opportunities, credit on a good friend’s video biography, flash fiction, short stories, and more.

Thanks for reading <3
