Fortnightly update 29: 04.01.2021 to 17.01.2021

In this blog series, I share my fortnight-to-fortnight triumphs (and failures) as a writer. Despite all the ups and downs, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Flash fiction and short stories

I’m currently submitting flash fiction and short stories to online magazines and such for publication. This fortnight, I worked my ass off, writing and submitting three short stories to various publications. Now I just have to play the waiting (and likely rejection) game.

Frontier Media

I write scripts for Frontier Media, a media production company specialising in YouTube. Our two largest channels are The Front and Geetsly’s, and while I’ve written for Geetsly’s in the past, I mostly write for The Front and our new, smaller channel The Braved. Two videos for which I wrote the scripts were published this fortnight.

Twitter

I write 280-character stories using various writing prompt hashtags on Twitter. This fortnight, I wrote just one story. Woops.

#vulture

I threw the thigh — femur jutting from the bloated flesh like a chicken sausage — onto the hardpan and crouched between a dusty tree and boulder. When the vultures started circling, I loaded my crossbow. One landed, and I thwocked it in its side. “Fucking scavengers.”

Conclusion

You might have noticed that this fortnightly post was particularly short, and that’s because I’ve been away for a spell, catching fish and getting sunstroke in Jurien Bay. I still managed to get quite a bit done before I went, however, and I even started a new (and very secret) project over the last few days of the fortnight. I’ve always been interested in pixel art, and that’s all the information I’m gonna leak for now.
