Fortnightly update 36: 12.04.2021 to 25.04.2021

In this blog series, I share my fortnight-to-fortnight triumphs (and failures) as a writer. Despite all the ups and downs, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Flash fiction and short stories

I’m currently submitting flash fiction and short stories to online magazines and such for publication. This fortnight was actually pretty good to me, all things considered. I wrote and submitted some new stories, and threw some others in the bottom drawer. Here are my stats:

Submissions: 7
Rejections: 6
Acceptances: 1

And that acceptance was for my story Crocodile, which is now forthcoming in Frost Zone Zine. I’m stoked this one finally got accepted, after I think seven rejections.

In other news, I set up my Amazon author account, which is nice.

Frontier Media

I write scripts for Frontier Media, a media production company specialising in YouTube. Our two largest channels are The Front and Geetsly’s, and while I’ve written for Geetsly’s in the past, I mostly write for The Front and our new, smaller channel The Braved. Four videos for which I wrote the scripts were published this fortnight.

Twitter

I write 280-character stories and poems using various writing prompt hashtags on Twitter. This fortnight, I was still super lazy and only wrote one piece, again.

#personal

He stood over his own dead body and fired another bullet into his bloodied face. His clone had stolen his job, drunk his beer, and nailed his wife.

“To hell with it!” he thought, and emptied the clip.

It was most definitely personal.

Conclusion

This fortnight was actually quite a victory. If I were able to get an acceptance every two weeks, I’d be laughing. But that’s honestly unrealistic. The only other interesting thing, I guess, is that I bought the tabletop RPG Monster of the Week and am super excited to give it a go!

Thanks for reading <3
