Fortnightly update 55: 03.01.2021 to 16.01.2022
In this blog series, I share my fortnight-to-fortnight triumphs (and failures) as a writer. Despite all the ups and downs, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Short fiction
I’m currently submitting short fiction, mostly flash fiction and short stories, to online magazines and such for publication. This fortnight’s good news: I scored my first story rejection of 2022. This fortnight’s bad news: it was a rejection by default, with no rejection letter. I HATE those more than anything. Is a form rejection too much to ask for? Oh well. I fired the story straight off to another publication. I also drafted a new story for a folk fiction contest, which I’m mega keen to enter this coming fortnight!
Here are this fortnight’s stats:
Submissions: 1
Pending: 5
Rejections: 1
Acceptances: 0
Rejections 2022: 1
Frontier Media
I write scripts for Frontier Media, a media production company specialising in YouTube. Our two largest channels are The Front and Geetsly’s, and while I’ve written a little for Geetsly’s in the past, I mostly write for The Front and our new, smaller channel The Braved. Five of my videos went up this fortnight, including my 50th for The Braved. Our little channel isn’t so little anymore!
And here are my total stats:
Videos for The Front: 116
Videos for The Braved: 50
Conclusion
The new year has been a bit hazy; I’m still in that grey area between holidays and work, but slowly I’m getting back on track with my projects, of which there are probably too many! My podcast is ALMOST ready to go; we’re just waiting on the logo. It also looks like I’m going to be collaborating with Chad Gerber again to help him with his scripts for an upcoming YouTube channel of his, as well. Then there’s my grandad’s memoir. It’s written, but it turns out self-publishing isn’t so straight-forward as I anticipated. I can’t wait to share more about all this, and more, in the coming weeks.
For now, thanks for reading <3
