Fortnightly update 68: 04.07.2022 to 17.07.2022
In this series, I share my fortnight-to-fortnight triumphs (and failures) as a writer. Despite all the ups and downs, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Short fiction
I’m currently submitting short fiction, mostly flash fiction and short stories, to online magazines and such for publication.
I smashed out my Australian alien (Australien?) horror story The Long People this fortnight and fired that away, but other than that, I didn’t do too much in the way of creative writing. I’m pretty eager to get some responses on the stories I have pending at the moment; I feel like they’ve been pending foreverrr.
My goal this coming fortnight will be to finish my hellish inebriation story Scull and maybe write some new flash fiction.

Copywriting
I’ve been dedicating quite a bit of time to improving as a copywriter lately, namely creating templates, reading, and watching videos. I also joined The Clever Copywriting School, which has been great so far. If I put in the effort, I think I’ll get a lot out of it.
And even if I don’t, I still get to flaunt this rad badge for a while.
Copywriting: Frontier Media
I write scripts for Frontier Media, a media production company specialising in YouTube content. Our two largest channels are The Front and Geetsly’s, and while I write mostly for The Front, I’ve written a little for Geetsly’s in the past and a lot for our retired channel The Braved (for which I wrote about 80 scripts).
Two of my videos went up this fortnight, meaning I’ve written at least 139 scripts for The Front so far.
Thoughts
It kind of sucks that I didn’t get to work on our podcast Spinning Yarns with Nick & Paddy this fortnight, but we will be back on that horse soon enough, and we’ll also be handing out flyers advertising interview opportunities this week. I can’t wait to do that.
Really, my copywriting work took centre stage this fortnight, as did socialising. I’ve been such a busy bee as of late, and the mojitos are starting to add up!
