Fortnightly update 71: 15.08.2022 to 28.08.2022

In this series, I share my fortnight-to-fortnight triumphs (and failures) as a writer. Despite all the ups and downs, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Copywriting: Health Coach Christian

I’ve been writing web copy for my buddy Christian, a health coach, for the past two weeks, and I’m fricken loving it. I’ve dabbled with web copy before, but this is my first major website project. I’ve learnt loads and tightened the screws in my copywriting process and my documents.

When the project’s finished, I’ll be able to share more, but I’m super proud of what I’ve done so far.

Copywriting: Frontier Media

As I mentioned in my last post, I’m stepping away from writing for Frontier Media’s YouTube channel The Front. However, some of the videos for which I wrote the scripts have yet to come out, so I’m still gonna share them here.

While I’m not writing scripts for The Front, I’ll still be editing them. I love editing more than I rightly should.

Short fiction

I’m currently submitting short fiction, mostly flash fiction and short stories, to online magazines and such for publication.

While I didn’t submit anything new or get any responses, I drafted a flash fiction piece and started writing a horror short story this fortnight. The latter is the first story I’ve set in Fremantle since I moved here. It’s been fun as hell so far, and yes, there’s a scene at Clancy’s.

Here are this fortnight’s stats:

Submissions: 0
Pending: 6
(6 stories; 0 sim subs)
Rejections: 0
Acceptances: 0

Thoughts

I’ve been committing to copywriting hard as of late, putting my fiction and other projects aside to prepare myself for taking on new clients and growing my business. The thing is, I’m having a blast doing it. I genuinely love writing templates, making spreadsheets, polishing my website, studying copywriting, and of course, writing copy. I’m a meticulous guy, and I love words, and in these last few weeks, I’ve come to realise that copywriting is the perfect career for me.

Knowing this has brought me peace.
