Update 72: 29.08.2022 to 11.09.2022
In this fortnightly series, I share my triumphs (and failures) as a writer.
Copywriting: Health Coach Christian
In my last update, I mentioned how I’m revamping my buddy Christian’s health coaching website. That’s finished now, and I’m bloody proud of what we’ve achieved. All told, I wrote the copy for six web pages and 13 product descriptions, and learnt a tonne.
In fact, I’m going to focus on writing website copy going forward. It’s a drastic shift from writing scripts, and while I’ve got a lot more to learn, it just feels right.
So if you’ve got a website that’s just sitting there, collecting dust and costing you money, give me a holler.

Copywriting: Frontier Media
As I mentioned a few posts back, I’m stepping away from writing for Frontier Media’s YouTube channel The Front. However, some of the videos for which I wrote the scripts have yet to come out, so I’m still gonna share them here.
Copywriting: Website and LinkedIn
You may have noticed my website is looking a little more snazzy.
My good friend Eric took me on a photoshoot around Freo in exchange for a pint, so I’ve finally got up-to-date photos of myself to stick on my website and strengthen my brand. My brand is me, after all, so it only makes sense.
Prepare to see a lot of photos of me in black.
I also realised I hadn’t been using my LinkedIn profile like I should: as a page that sells my copywriting services. This has been rectified, and I actually had a blast doing it. Maybe writing people’s LinkedIn profiles is something I’ll look into in the future.
Short fiction
I’m currently submitting short fiction, mostly flash fiction and short stories, to online magazines and such for publication.
Same as last fortnight, this one was slow. I polished my demon flash fiction story Offering, thanks to some excellent feedback from my friend Katie, and it’s about ready to submit. With that said, I have no bloody idea where to submit this one.
Here are this fortnight’s stats:
Submissions: 0
Pending: 6 (6 stories; 0 sim subs)
Rejections: 0
Acceptances: 0
Thoughts
I took some huge steps forward this fortnight. My brand is much stronger, I finished my first major web copy job, and I managed to land another web copy gig, but I’ll wait till it’s finished before I spill the beans.
