Fortnightly update 85
13.03.2023 to 26.03.2023
My journey as a copywriter and fiction writer.
This fortnight, I did several more free website reviews, made a video for my home page, started prep for a new copywriting service, joined a networking group, finished a flash fiction story, and appear in a local newspaper.

Free website reviews
Since the website review I did for Tim King last night fortnight, I’ve done another 4, and I’ve got 4 more in the pipeline.
I learn tonnes, help people out, and get to interact with people I may not have otherwise. It also forms the basis of my posts on LinkedIn, which means I spend less time writing content for that platform. And a kinda love that. If you’re after a review, check out this page.
My website
Video is definitely the theme of this update because I made one for my home page, too. No use prattling on about it. Here it is:
New copywriting services
Keeping on theme here, I’ve been wrestling with the idea of focusing on scriptwriting for the past few months. I’ve written hundreds of scripts for YouTube videos and such, so it makes sense in many ways.
But one thing that holds me back is the fact that writing scripts is just one part of the process. Clients would very likely want a whole package, so if I’m gonna offer scriptwriting, it makes sense to have a team who can do the rest of it, too.
So a team is what I’ve been putting together. And it’s going well. We’re gonna focus on creating 2-minute motion graphics explainer videos for now, and play it by ear.
District 32
If you can’t tell, I’ve been taking some pretty big steps with my business lately. One of the biggest was joining the business networking group District 32.
So far, I’ve attended a circle meeting in Freo and I did a speed networking event online. I’ve yet to sink my teeth into every D32 has to offer, but I soon will.
Everyone I’ve met so far has been absolutely lovely, and I’m keen to see where it goes.
Fiction
In my last post, I mentioned I was writing a little story for the WA Tree Festival. Well, it’s now complete, thank fuck.
I say “thank fuck” because it had been way too bloody long since I’d finished a fiction piece. My focus has very much been elsewhere. But that’s life. If I’m not pecked to death by a flock of seagulls in the near future, I’m thinking I’ll have plenty of time to get back to my fiction. When the time is right.
For now, I’m adopting a “chip away at it” attitude.
The Freo Herald
And of course, the news of the decade: I appeared in the Fremantle Herald. Please forgive the photo quality. I need a new potato, and I need to learn how to use the thing too.

Thoughts
I’m a busy bloody bee at the moment, and I’m loving it. When you’re occupied pretty much 24/7, all those little problems that seemed huge just melt away.
I’ll STFU now.
