Fortnightly update 87
10.04.2023 to 23.04.2023
My journey as a copywriter and fiction writer.
This fortnight, I spent most of my energy on a big copywriting project. I also networked a bunch and did my first paid website review.
The big copywriting project
It’s been great to sink my teeth into a big project these past two weeks. Namely, I’m writing 23 pages of website copy for a fun and inspiring company that operates, on wheels, in Perth and Freo, and I’m doing this via Aligned Agency (I’ll be able to share more about the project soon).
The copy itself is some of my best to date, and it’s fun as hell to write. It’s also the first time I’ve worked through an agency. Which I’ve been absolutely loving. Aligned, spearheaded by a friend from back in the day, Hursh, are professional with a capital P, and so very easy to work with (you’re a legend, Jas).
As it turns out, there are benefits to working with a team, instead of trying to do everything myself.
I’d love to work at an agency, actually. I reckon I’d learn a tonne. And at the risk of sounding arrogant, I reckon I’d be a bloody good asset.
Networking
One thing I wish they drilled into me in school was the power of in-person networking. More than that, I wish they’d told me just how damn fun it is.
I’ve really been putting myself out there these past few weeks, heading into the CBD and beyond on trains and buses to meet up with passionate business owners and fellow freelancers.
My Smartrider is getting a serious workout, and I’m now a slave to coffee, but I’m having an absolute blast, and it’s doing wonders for my business and confidence.
If I hadn’t joined the business networking District 32 a bit over a month ago, I don’t think I’d be networking like I am now. It was the swift kick up the ass I needed.
Website review
In my last post, I mentioned that my website reviews would be a paid thing going forward. And this fortnight, I did my first one.
I may have got entirely carried away with the time I spent on it, but I wanted to do a good job. Here it is.
Also, Roz, whose website I previously reviewed, sent me a video testimonial, which was just lovely.
Thoughts
After all the excitement of last fortnight, turning 30 and all, I thoroughly enjoyed these past two weeks of good, honest work.
I managed to squeeze in some MTG and video games, too, which is always nice.
